I don't remember Peanut Butter as a problem.

It hit me that we go to great lengths today, and rightfully so, to protect our kids. One concern that sticks out: some kids are deathly allergic to peanut butter. Schools must take proactive steps to ensure these kids are not exposed.

Growing up and attending school in 60's (started school in in 1958 kindergarten), I don't recall a single mention of anyone being allergic to peanut butter. And, I certainly don't remember hearing about anyone dying from it. Perhaps it was there, and I didn't know. Communication is certainly better since then. I do remember that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches was probably the most common thing brought to school for lunch.

Did something change? Or, did these things always exist?
